Pace of Play - 'Par' Time Guidance

We have recently received some feedback regarding slow play across both courses.  After reviewing several instances, we would like to provide some guidance around acceptable pace of play.

You’ll often hear the phrase “keep up with the group in front.”  While helpful as a general guide, not all groups play at the same pace, and this can sometimes create unrealistic expectations or lead to other issues.

Our timesheets are designed to support a steady and consistent flow of play.  When groups play significantly faster than ‘Par’ time, it can lead to congestion on shorter holes and delays when catching groups that are yet to tee off.

Our focus is on maintaining an overall ‘Par’ round time, with the following expectations:

  • A round should be completed in approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes (2 hours and 10 minutes per nine holes).

  • Be ready to play when it is your turn. “Ready Golf” is encouraged where safe to do so (except in match play, where order of play applies).

  • Maintain your group’s position on the course rather than trying to match the pace of faster groups ahead.

  • Be mindful of time spent on practice swings, reading putts, and searching for balls.

  • If practical, please allow faster groups to play through to help maintain overall flow.

Pace of play is a shared responsibility, and a consistent, reasonable flow ensures an enjoyable experience for all members.

We also remind members that maintaining a safe and welcoming environment is our top priority.  If any issues arise on course, please avoid approaching other players directly and instead contact the Pro Shop, where our staff will be happy to assist.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to promote a balanced and fair pace of play across both courses.

Men's Golf Australia Pennant

Men's Golf Australia Pennant - Division 6 kicked off last Sunday 15 March with Churchill-Waverley playing at home against Werribee Park.

Aaban Tariq played solid in a tight contest, eventually halfing his match.  Jack Sudweeks and Ayden Johnston bith acquitted themselves well, but couldn't defeat more experienced opponents.  Daniel Pitchford started his day with a tap in eagle and kept the hot form going for a 6/5 win.  Steve Ellis was in trouble late in his match before a brilliant run winning four holes in a row.  His charge came up just short, going down on the last hole.  Mitch Ohlmus (Head Professional) played determined golf posting a great 7/6 win.  The contest ultimately came down to the last match with Kirk Tuaiti grinding out a great 2 up win.  The overall result was a 3.5 / 3.5 draw.

Thank you to members who kindly assisted with volunteering.

This Sunday 22 March we play against Club Mandalay at their home course with a 11.15 am - 1st Tee start.  The team will be as follows:

1. Kirk Tuaiti
2. Mitch Ohlmus
3. Steve Ellis (C)
4. Daniel Pitchford
5. Ayden Johnston
6. Rohan McDowell
7. Jack Sudweeks

Hole in One

Congratulations to Ayden Johnston who recorded a Hole in One on the 13th Hole at Rowville last Saturday 21 March.

Endeavour Hills Site - Two Tee start for AM Field

Due to an existing booking within the timesheet on Saturday 21st March, the field size at Endeavour Hills was not able to be fully expanded, particularly with the current greens renovations at the Rowville site.

To provide additional opportunities for member play, Saturday the 28th of March will operate with a modified Two Tee start in the morning field at Endeavour Hills, offering greater flexibility and increased capacity for those members who do not wish to play on the Cored Greens at Rowville.

We appreciate your understanding and support.

Eastern Suburbs Seniors Pennant

A close finish, running for a finals berth, our gold team just missed.  Had we beaten Box Hill gold, our gold team would have played Box Hill green in the match play final.  A tied game left us two points short.  Andrew Heap 5/4, Ross Hogan 4/3, David Fraser 2up  and Col Spargo 4/3 were winners for the team.

The green team was not in contention for finals.  Playing Box Hill we succumbed 3 ½ to 4 ½.  Steve Plunkett 4/3, Geoff Chamings 5/3 and Graeme Miller 1up won their games; Phil Edmonds squared his game.

Both teams will play in a 4BBB for the teams championship next week at Yering Meadows

The lady golfers hosted the annual mixed Green Tee Day Challenge yesterday at the Rowville site.  Played on the freshly renovated greens, the day is a popular event on the club's social calendar.  Members dressed in green, had some wacky pin positions and enjoyed the Churchill-Waverley camaraderie post golf.  Congratulations to Jothi Naidoo, Rama Naidoo, Saras Sanjappa and Mahan Krishnan winners with 59.125 Nett.

Good golfing - Ann Wadsley
