Eastern Suburbs 55+ Pennant

Thanks to Leigh Simons for managing the team in the Eastern Suburbs +55 Senior Pennant this season and to all the players that participated.

Unfortunately the green and gold teams missed the match play final.

Last Friday, pairs from green and gold teams played 4BBB aggregate stableford for the team's championship at Yering Meadows.  Pairs scores across the field were 42 or less with two exceptions.  A 46 was recorded, beaten by 47 from Graeme Miller and Alex Dean.  Their effort lifted the green teams total to 166 and were WINNERS OF THE TEAM'S CHAMPIONSHIP.

The gold team totaled 148.

Thanks for the support of the Churchill-Waverley Golf & Bowls Club and members.

David Waters - Senior Pennant

Men's Golf Australia Pennant

Round 2 of Men's Golf Australia Pennant - Division 6 was played last Sunday 22 March with tough assignment for Churchill-Waverley playing Club Mandalay on their home track.

Ayden Johnston and Steve Ellis fought out tight matches to both record 1 up wins.  Kirk Tuaiti played great golf for a 3/2 win at number 1.  The contest then came down to the final match with our Head Professional, Mitch Ohlmus, holing a gutsy putt on the last hole to halve his match.  For the second week in a row, Churchill-Waverley finished with a 3.5 / 3.5 draw.

This Sunday 29 March we play against Yarrambat at Bacchus Marsh with a 12.10 pm - 1st Tee start.  The team will be as follows:

1. Kirk Tuaiti
2. Mitch Ohlmus
3. Steve Ellis (C)
4. Daniel Pitchford
5. Ayden Johnston
6. John Tham
7. Daniel Hicks

Ladies Golf News

Yesterday we had a fun day playing Irish Foursomes for St Patrick’s Day.  Thank you to Ann Wadsley and Kaylene Ellis for organising the day, donating prizes and preparing the scorecards so beautifully.  And thanks to all for dressing up.  The prize for best dressed was decided by Kyle (barman).  A very deserving winner Veena Mali who put a lot of effort into her dress up, even painting her glasses green!!

Winner of the Irish Foursomes was the team of Kaye Pittman, Kay Lee, Iwona Wasilewski, and Lyn Markby with a huge winning margin.

Feedback from all regarding last week's green tee day was that it was a resounding success. Thanks to all involved.

I encourage all ladies and especially those on the Interclub squad to come to the fundraising event on Friday 10 April at Endeavour Hills.  Refer to the flyer in this newsletter.  This will raise funds for men’s and ladies pennant and Interclub teams. It will be interesting to see how the Trackman challenge works.

Interclub starts on Monday 4 May at Endeavour Hills with a tee-off time of 9am. If you can help please let me know.

NEXT WEEK: Monthly Medal and 1st round of match play championships.

For those heading off to Rich River for the Seniors trip on Sunday have a great time.

Jenny Ward - Lady Captain
