Churchill
Park Golf Club
Golf was first played at
Gleneagles on Hallam Rd Endeavour Hills in 1964. In 1968 a group of
Gleneagles players formed Glendennis Golf Club, playing at the Glen Waverley
Municipal Golf Course. Later that year, they changed the Club?s name to Churchill
Park Golf Club.
Construction
of a new course commenced in 1970 on the Police Paddocks property at Endeavour
Hills. Nine holes were opened in 1971, with the official opening of the 18-hole
course, later extended to 27 holes, in 1973.
Waverley Golf Club
Waverley Golf Club began as the Glen Waverley Golf
Club on 26 September 1926 and operated from leased land at the corner of
Waverley Road and Blackburn Road, Glen Waverley. The club was renamed to
Waverley Golf Club in 1938.
In 1959 the owner of the land advised the club that
they intended to sell their property, so the club resolved to purchase four
adjoining land parcels in Rowville. The Rowville course officially opened
in September 1962 with lawn bowls opening in December 1964.
Churchill-Waverley Golf and Bowls Club
In September 2016, Churchill-Waverley Golf and Bowls
Club was created following the successful merger of Churchill Park and Waverley
Golf Clubs. The Churchill Park Golf Course is the proposed new home for
the merged Churchill-Waverley Golf and Bowls Club.
